The Melting Pot Partners with the Gluten Intolerance Group to Promote Celiac Awareness Month Leading fondue restaurant franchise supports Chef to Plate gluten-free awareness campaign for sixth consecutive year In recognition of Celiac Awareness Month in May, The Melting Pot Restaurants, Inc., the world’s premier fondue restaurant franchise, is partnering with the Gluten Intolerance Group (GIG) for the annual Chef to Plate gluten-free awareness campaign.
The Chef to Plate Program aims to raise awareness about gluten-related disorders through gluten-free dining during the month of May. The Melting Pot has been teaming up with GIG since 2010 when the fondue restaurant franchise first introduced its gluten-free menu.
“The Melting Pot launched its gluten-free menu after receiving requests from guests to provide safe and delicious gluten-free options for fondue fans to enjoy,” said Mike Lester, president of The Melting Pot. “We are proud to continue our support of Celiac Awareness Month by teaming up with GIG for the sixth year in a row.”
The Melting Pot’s gluten-free menu features gluten-free cheese fondues, salads, entrées and chocolate fondues, as well as gluten-free fondue dippers. Each year, The Melting Pot serves more than 10,000 pounds of gluten-free cheese fondue. Chef to Plate is an international gluten-free awareness campaign of the Gluten Intolerance Group of North America (GIG), a nonprofit group dedicated to raising awareness of celiac disease and other forms of gluten intolerance. Celiac disease, an autoimmune disease that damages the intestine when gluten, the protein found in wheat, rye or barley, is consumed, affects one in 133 Americans and one in 250 worldwide.
